OUR AFTERCARE

How do I care for my tattoo with the foil wrap method?:
Your artist has covered your fresh tattoo with a protective film. Leave it on for a few hours, until you arrive at home, unless your artist has advised otherwise.Wash your hands before removing the film. Gently wash your tattoo with lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free soap or cleanser like Unicura Balance (purple packaging). Pat dry with a clean paper towel or cotton cloth. Do not rub.
Apply a thin layer of our aftercare cream two times a day, or whenever your tattoo feels dry. Avoid products containing perfume, petroleum jelly or alcohol.
-
How long can I leave my Second Skin on?:
Second Skin can stay on for a maximum of 5 days. Do not leave it on for longer than this. What should I do if my Second Skin starts coming loose?:
If the edges start lifting but the tattoo remains completely sealed, with no air reaching the tattoo, you can leave the Second Skin in place. However, if air reaches the tattoo underneath the film, or if the Second Skin starts leaking, remove it. Once the seal is broken, the protective barrier is compromised.
How do I remove my Second Skin?:
Gently peel the film away from your skin. Uuse lukewarm running water to help loosen it. Avoid pulling the film off forcefully.Wash your tattoo with lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free soap (like Unicura Balance). Pat dry with a clean paper towel or cotton cloth. Do not rub.
What should I do after removing my Second Skin?:
Continue with the Foil Wrap Method aftercare instructions. Gently clean your tattoo, pat it dry and apply a thin layer of our aftercare cream two times a day, or whenever your tattoo feels dry.Avoid scratching, picking at scabs or peeling skin, and follow the general aftercare instructions until your tattoo is fully healed.

How often should I moisturise my tattoo?:
Once your tattoo has been cleaned and dried, apply a small amount of aftercare cream twice a day. A thin layer is all you need. Applying too much product can prevent your skin from breathing properly.
How long should I use tattoo aftercare cream?:
Continue using your tattoo aftercare cream throughout the healing process, usually around 4 to 6 weeks. Apply a small amount twice a day to keep your skin moisturised while it heals. Once your tattoo is fully healed, you can return to your regular skincare routine. Can I use Vaseline on my tattoo:
No. We strongly advise against using Vaseline on your tattoo. It creates a thick, occlusive layer that can trap moisture and interfere with the skin's natural healing process. Use a suitable tattoo aftercare product instead. What kind of aftercare cream should I use?:
Choose a suitable tattoo aftercare product with ingredients that support your skin while it heals. We sell our own vegan tattoo aftercare products, made with natural ingredients. Ask us about them at the studio if you would like to know more.Should I wash my tattoo every day?:
Yes. Gently clean your tattoo with lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free soap or cleanser, we recommend Unicure Balance (the purple bottle). Always wash your hands before touching your tattoo and pat the area dry with a clean paper towel or cotton cloth. Avoid rubbing or scrubbing the skin.Is it normal for my tattoo to itch or peel?:
Yes. Mild itching and peeling are normal parts of the healing process. Do not scratch your tattoo, pick at scabs or pull off loose skin. Let your skin heal naturally. -
1. How long does a tattoo take to heal?:
A tattoo usually takes around 4 to 6 weeks to heal fully. Healing time depends on the size and placement of your tattoo, as well as your skin type. Even when the surface looks healed, the skin underneath may still be recovering.2. Is it normal for my tattoo to itch or peel?:
Yes! Mild itching, light scabbing and peeling are normal parts of the healing process. Do not scratch your tattoo, pick at scabs or pull off peeling skin. Let your skin heal naturally.3. Is it normal for my tattoo to look dull or cloudy?:
Yes. During healing, your tattoo may temporarily look dull, cloudy or less vibrant than it did when it was fresh. This is a normal part of the healing process and usually improves as your skin recovers.4. Will my tattoo look exactly the same once it has healed?:
Not necessarily. Your tattoo can look different throughout the healing process as your skin recovers. Colours and details may appear different while the skin is healing. Wait until your tattoo is fully healed before judging the final result.5. Do I need a touch-up after my tattoo has healed?:
Not every tattoo needs a touch-up. Sometimes, certain areas may need a little extra work once the tattoo has fully healed. If you notice any areas that may need attention, contact us to discuss a touch-up.If your tattoo has healed beautifully and you're happy with the result, a touch-up may not be necessary. Going over a tattoo that has already healed well can change its appearance without necessarily improving it.
6. When should I be concerned about my tattoo's healing?:
Mild redness, swelling and warmth can occur during the first few days. However, these symptoms should gradually improve. If redness spreads, pain or swelling increases, the area becomes increasingly warm, pus develops or you develop a fever, contact your doctor. Seek urgent medical attention if symptoms are severe or you feel very unwell.

1. Can I shower with a new tattoo?:
Yes, you can shower as usual. Use lukewarm water and avoid directing strong water pressure onto your tattoo. Gently clean the area and pat it dry afterwards. Avoid soaking your tattoo in water while it heals.2. Can I swim with a new tattoo?:
No. Avoid swimming pools, lakes, the sea and other bodies of water until your tattoo is fully healed. Soaking your tattoo can interfere with the healing process and increase the risk of infection.3. Can I go to the sauna or take a bath?:
Avoid baths, hot tubs and saunas until your tattoo is fully healed. Excessive moisture, heat and prolonged soaking can irritate healing skin.4. Can I exercise after getting a tattoo?:
You can return to exercise when your skin feels comfortable, but avoid activities that cause excessive sweating, stretching or friction around your tattoo, especially during the first few days. Keep the area clean and avoid contact with dirty gym equipment.5. Can I expose my new tattoo to the sun?:
Keep your healing tattoo out of direct sunlight. Do not apply sunscreen to an open or healing tattoo. Once your tattoo is fully healed, use sunscreen with at least SPF 30 to help protect its colour and detail.6. Can I wear tight clothing over my tattoo?:
Avoid tight clothing that rubs against your tattoo. Choose clean, loose-fitting clothing that allows your skin to breathe and reduces friction while it heals.7. Can I scratch my tattoo if it gets itchy?:
No. Scratching or picking at your tattoo can damage healing skin and affect the final result. Mild itching and peeling are normal. Let your skin heal naturally. -
1. Do all tattoos need a touch-up?:
No. Every tattoo heals differently, and not every tattoo needs a touch-up. Sometimes a few areas may need additional work once the tattoo has fully healed. If your tattoo has healed beautifully and you're happy with the result, a touch-up may not be necessary. Going over a tattoo that has already healed well can change its appearance, so a touch-up should only be considered when there is a reason for it.
2. Should I send my artist a photo of my healed tattoo?:
Yes, we'd love to see it! Once your tattoo has healed, ideally after 3–4 weeks, send your artist a clear photo of the result. This allows your artist to see how the tattoo has settled and whether any areas may need attention. Please make sure your tattoo is fully healed before sending your photo for assessment. If your skin is still peeling, irritated or recovering, give it a little more time.
3. Do freckle hearts fade over time?:
Yes. Freckle hearts are created using brown pigment and can fade or soften over time. The final colour and longevity vary from person to person, depending on factors such as skin type, placement and how the tattoo heals.Keep in mind that freckle hearts are intended to have a soft, natural appearance, and they may become lighter as they heal. This is normal and does not automatically mean that a touch-up is needed.
4. Do finger tattoos fade faster than other tattoos?:
Yes. Finger tattoos, especially those on the inside or sides of the fingers, tend to fade faster than tattoos on many other parts of the body. Frequent handwashing, friction and constant movement make it difficult for the pigment to stay evenly in the skin.Even with good aftercare, finger tattoos may heal patchily or lose some of their pigment over time. Touch-ups may be needed, but results can vary and cannot be guaranteed.
5. Can I get a detailed tattoo on my finger?:
Finger tattoos have very limited space, and the skin in this area makes it difficult to retain fine details over time. Designs with tiny details, closely spaced lines or intricate elements may blur together or lose definition as they heal and age.For the best possible long-term result, we recommend keeping finger tattoos simple and avoiding designs with more detail than the placement can realistically support. Your artist may suggest simplifying a design or adjusting its size.
6. What if I'm unsure whether my tattoo needs a touch-up?:
First, allow your tattoo to heal completely. Check your physical aftercare form for the instructions provided after your appointment. If you're still unsure after reviewing the information, send your artist a clear photo of your fully healed tattoo, ideally after 3–4 weeks. Your artist can assess the result and advise whether a touch-up may be appropriate.
